Journal # 6 Earthquake

At 1:47am, 21th September, 1999, there was an earthquake which was ML 7.3 in Taiwan. There were over four thousand people died, and a lot of people lost their home.

I remember I went to bed very early at that day. When earthquake happened, I was dreaming. At that moment, I had felt everything was shaking, but I thought it would finish very soon. Finally, I was wrong because it continued shaking and it was getting big. I told my sister we should get out our room, but maybe my sister was still dreaming and continued asking me, “What’s going on?” Finally, I dragged her to get out our room, but it was difficult to walk out because the shaking was horizontal and vertical. Also, it was continuing about five minutes. We saw our parents and my brother in the living room, and my father told us, “Everyone doesn’t worry. We need to go outside. ” Finally, all my family got out our home and staid the square which was in front of our home. At that time, we had seen a lot of neighbor gathered together, and they talked about this earthquake might make a lot of injuries and deaths because it was so big. Actually, everyone was cold because we get out our home without jacket, but nobody wanted to go home to take jacket. That was too danger. That was first time that I felt the time was running so slowly, and when I could wake up from this nightmare. After one hour, everyone decided to go home. Actually, even thought I went back home, I was still scare the earthquake would happen again. Therefore, I didn’t go back to my bedroom; I just stayed at the living room because I thought I could run away as soon as possible if the earthquake might happen again. Also, most of cities in Taiwan didn’t have electric after the earthquake. The other terrible thing was that telephones and cell phones didn’t work. As a result, when the day was dawning, a lot of people tried to make sure their families who lived somewhere else were fine. Also, after several days, the news had continued reporting some cities which were near epicenter were very serious, and the casualties continued raising.

Journal # 5 A legend about sun

In Chinese, we have a legend about sun. Long time ago, there were ten suns in the sky. Therefore, the weather was burning hot, and the people could not go out. Also, the farmers could not farm because all the plant died. There was a marksman who name was Hou-Yi. He wanted to save people and decided to shoot those suns. Hou-Yi was an excellent marksman. One day, he shot down nine suns, and when he wanted to continue to shoot last one, the people asked him to stop because if Hou-Yi would shoot down last one, the sky would become dark forever. Finally, Hou-Yi became a hero, and that is why we have one sun in sky now.

Journal # 5 I cut my eyebrow from riding my bicycle

Do you remember the first time you learned to ride a bicycle? I remember that was twenty-three years ago, and I was only six years old. One afternoon, my older brother asked me,” Do you want to learn how to ride a bicycle? I can teach you.” Of course, I wanted to. For me, it was so exciting. Therefore, we went to the park which was in front of our home to learn. Actually, riding was difficult for me because I could not balance the bicycle while I was riding it. As a result, I fell over again and again. The most serious time I fell over, I bumped my head against a big stone which was on the road. Then I got a cut on my left eyebrow, and I started to bleed. Finally, my father took me to the hospital, and the doctor stitched my cut. That is why I have a scar on my left eyebrow now.

Journal # 4 A Rude Apartment Manager

I have come to America for one and half year. First year, I and Aries rented an apartment, but I really hated the manager of that apartment because there were a lot of reasons. There was a story about our affray.

Now, let’s call that manager is Mr. L. I remember when we just moved in the apartment, Mr. L had told us that he was going to change our toilet, but he didn’t say when. At that time, I was happy because we would have a new toilet. One day when we finished school and went home, we detected the toilet was changed. Actually, I was angry because the worker didn’t ask us to get in our apartment.

As a result, I asked Mr. L. how the workers could get in our home without our permission. Then Mr. L said, “You don’t understand. Here is America. If you have something that need to fix, you need to wait long time. As a result, the best way is that let worker come anytime even you are not at home. Therefore, I opened the door for workers and this is a rule.”

At that time, I was so angry and told him,” what are you talking about. Did you think I am a stupid? I have been to many countries and I never heard this kind of thing. If I have something missing, who should be responsible? I don’t care how long I need to wait and I want you esteem us. This is rude that you get in the people’s home without their permission. If this situation happens again, I will call the police.”

I know he was very angry, but I don’t think I was wrong. I believe even I could not stay at home to wait for the workers, we could make an appointment by the other time. How could Mr. L get in our home by himself without our permission.

Journal # 3 My brian is not working now

It’s 6 pm now. What is I want to say about this week? Actually, I have no idea because my brain is not working right now. Also, all my thinking is I have a pain in my belly. Even though I should experience it every month, I still can not be used to it. I don’t know why it is so hurt this time. You may not believe that I lay down on my bed whole afternoon, but there was sweat on my all body when I was sleeping, and the pain awoke me. If you are a man, you would not understand it. Maybe I should listen to my monther to abstain from ice drinking. It will make me feel better next month. I already tried my best on this journal. I just want to say this is hard time to a woman. Especially, today is my first day....oh...my goodness !!! HELP ME ~~~

Journal # 2 Business is a popular class in school

Business is a popular class in school for several reasons. First, a lot of people are interested business because they can study many case studies. Especially, students can learn different knowledge from different cases. Secondly, business is useful after students graduate from school. Even though they do not want to be a merchant, they still need to know how make their account in gain. Finally, business is important if you want to become a successful business man. If you would a company owner, you should know how to control everything and lead you subordinates.

Chinese New Year is coming up !!!

Next week is Chinese New Year, as you know that it’s a big deal for Chinese people. Especially, at this time, I really want to go home and eat the New Year Eve’s dinner with my family. In our culture, we usually have chafing dish with family during the Chinese New Year, and we call it “ Wei Lu”. “ Wei Lu” in Chinese symbolizes that the members of family have a reunion.

Last week, I had called my mom, and she suggested that I and Aries can have chafing dish by ourselves. I thought that is not bad. Therefore, I bought a lot of food yesterday, and cooked it today. However, when everything was ready to cook, my electric oven which I brought from Taiwan was not working!!! After we checked it, we were sure it is broken…

You may not believe I was depressed all day because my electric oven was broken….Actually, I wanna cry….I can’t go home to have a reunion, also I will not have chafing dish…
